The AIs are gonna get better at predicting what keeps us on the screen, not worse at predicting what keeps us on the screen. I was so impressed with the documentary but there were SO many cogent ideas and points of view that Im super pleased to have found this transcript. Okay, theres the supercomputer. [Joe] We could tax data collection and processing the same way that you, for example, pay your water bill by monitoring the amount of water that you use. Taking a look at the overwhelming proliferation of social media, the documentary. [Tristan] A lot of what were saying sounds like its just this one-sided doom and gloom. So, weve created an entire global generation of people who are raised within a context where the very meaning of communication, the very meaning of culture, is manipulation. Its the only possible product. Theres nothing else on the table that could possibly be called the product. Its absolutely absurd. Following with another video. So, theres no doubt that a vehicle like social media, which optimizes this connection between people, is going to have the potential for addiction. This is the problem beneath other problems because if we cant agree on whats true, then we cant navigate out of any of our problems. Uh Now, what are they being paid for? [Jeff] Nobody, I deeply believe, ever intended any of these consequences. [vlogger] so they can pick sides. Its that the platforms make it possible to spread manipulative narratives with phenomenal ease, and without very much money. [Tristan] Do we want this system for sale to the highest bidder?
